About the Authors

Nancy Douglas 

Nancy Douglas is a teacher, materials writer, and editor who has been in ELT for over twenty years. She has extensive experience working with students from around the world and has co-authored several courses, including the best-selling series World Link and Reading Explorer. She has also edited print and Web-based materials for English language learners as well as professional development courses for teachers. 

Paul MacIntyre

Paul MacIntyre, who earned his MA in TESL from Simmons College in Boston, has extensive teaching experience in Japan and the United States and currently enjoys a career that blends teaching with materials writing and editing. He is a perennial contributing writer for some of the best-known publishers in the field of ELT. For National Geographic Learning, he has authored two levels of the successful Reading Explorer series as well as Pathways 4: Listening, Speaking, and Critical Thinking. He currently resides near Boston.

Helen Huntley 

Helen Huntley is currently the Vietnam Director of a cooperative undergraduate 2+2 program between California State University, San Bernardino, and the National Economics University, Hanoi, serving as liaison between the two universities and directing the English language program. She was Director of the Intensive English Program at West Virginia University in the United States from 1996-2006, followed by a year as a Senior Fulbright Scholar in Mexico, and three years as a Senior English Language Fellow in Vietnam. She is a published author and consultant for National Geographic Learning, and has presented at numerous international conferences on a wide variety of educational topics. In addition, she has assumed leadership positions in professional educational organizations in the United States and has consulted on a variety of educational projects. 

David Bohlke

David Bohlke has over 30 years of experience as a teacher, teacher trainer, program director, editor, and materials writer. He has taught in Japan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco, and has conducted multiple teacher-training workshops in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, Africa, and the Pacific. As an editor he has worked on many of the best-selling ELT courses for teens and adults. His work as an author for National Geographic Learning includes the series Reading Explorer, Keynote, and Time Zones. David holds an M.A. in Applied Linguistics/TESOL. 

Bruce Rogers

Bruce Rogers is a teacher, textbook author, and editor. He has taught English as a Second Language and test preparation courses since 1977. He was an instructor and administrator in the English program at the Economics Institute, University of Colorado for twenty years. He has also taught at the Central Bank of Indonesia as well in Vietnam, Korea, Turkey, and the Czech Republic. Bruce is the author of test-prep guides for the TOEFL iBT and the TOEFL PBT, the TOEIC, and co-author of The Complete Guide to IELTS, all published by National Geographic Learning. He is also the author or co-author of seven other ESL books.  He lives in Boulder, Colorado, USA.   

Becky Tarver Chase 

Becky Tarver Chase is an experienced English instructor who has taught all subject areas including reading, writing, grammar, communication skills, and test preparation. She has worked at universities and in private programs in the United States, Mexico, and Thailand. Her current focus is on creating effective language-learning materials, and she is one of the authors of the World English, Reading Explorer, Close-Up, and Pathways series from National Geographic Learning.
