Look

Gregg Schroeder is a writer, editor and college lecturer specializing in English language teaching. He started in education as a junior high school teacher in Japan, and after a period as an in-house editor for an international publisher, went on to collaborate as a writer on courses, readers and other materials for Asia, Latin America and beyond. Gregg earned his bachelor’s degree in San Luis Obispo, California, and a master of fine arts in creative writing at City University of Hong Kong.

Katherine Bilsborough has been creating ELT materials for 30 years, for her own students and for some of the top ELT Publishers. Together with her co-author, Steve Bilsborough, she has written more than 30 course books and many online courses. Katherine also writes monthly lesson plans for the British Council/BBC website teachingenglish.org.uk and blog posts for National Geographic Learning’s In Focus blog. She is the author of ‘How to write Primary materials’, a training course for ELT writers and is the Joint Events Coordinator for IATEFL’s MaWSIG (Materials Writers’ special interest group). Katherine and Steve are the authors for level 1 of Look, a series for young learners of English with National Geographic Learning.

Steve Bilsborough has been creating ELT materials since 1987, for his own students and for some of the top ELT Publishers. Together with his co-author, Katherine Bilsborough, he has written more than 30 course books and many online courses. Steve and Katherine are the authors for level 1 of Look, a series for young learners of English with National Geographic Learning.

Rachel Wilson has been based in Asia for more than 25 years writing, editing and training in the field of English language teaching and, more recently, environmental education. She is passionate about diversity, the natural world, global issues, and the many ways that education can provide opportunities for all. Originally from Britain, Rachel lives in Hong Kong with her husband and two young children. She is the level 2 author of Look, a series for young learners of English, published by National Geographic Learning.

Daniel Barber is a teacher, trainer and writer based in Cádiz, Spain. He's taught classes of all types and ages over more than twenty years as well as tutoring and directing Trinity TESOL courses and managing his own school. He is an author for National Geographic Learning's secondary series Perspectives and Look, a seven-level series for young learners of English. His interests include motivation in learning, coaching approaches to teaching English and the science of learning and the brain.

Rob Sved is an EFL author based in Oxford, UK. Over the last 20 years, he has worked as a teacher, publisher, editor and author and specializes in developing materials for young learners.

Katherine Stannett is based in West Sussex, England and is an author with over twenty years of experience in editing, writing and developing materials to teach English. She specialises in writing for children and teenagers at all levels and is particularly interested in the development of 21st century skills. She is an author of National Geographic Learning’s Look, a seven-level series for young learners of English, and Impact, a five-level series for teenage learners of English.

Mary Charrington is a teacher and EFL materials author with 25 years experience writing and developing courses specifically for young learners. She is the co-author of a range of courses, including Bingo/Eko and Friends (Pearson), Peekaboo and Next Stop/Next Move (Macmillan English) and Explorers, Big Questions and the award-winning Mouse and Me (Oxford University Press). Mary is now proud to be part of the writing team for Look, a seven-level series for young learners of English, researched and developed by National Geographic Learning.

Elaine Boyd has been involved in assessment design and quality assurance for over 30 years working for a range of international exam boards. She has been especially concerned with the impact of assessments in the classroom and worked closely with teachers and teacher educators delivering courses in assessment literacy in Europe, India and SE Asia and has published articles in this field. She has been Visiting Professor at the Universitat Politecnica in Valencia with responsibility for developing a framework for EMI. Her research includes intercultural communication and pragmatics and her PhD investigated spoken language using corpus data. She is currently a post graduate tutor at The Institute of Education at University College London. Elaine has authored several exam coursebooks for a range of age groups for leading international publishers and is a Course Consultant for Look, a seven-level primary series from National Geographic Learning.

Paul Dummett is a teacher and writer based in Oxford, UK, where he ran his own school teaching English to professionals from 1996 to 2006. He currently teaches refugee children in Palestine and Jordan with The Hands Up project. His main interests are the use of images and narrative in language teaching and how these can aid deeper learning and memory. Seeking out writing projects that explore these interests he has found a natural home at National Geographic Learning, co-authoring titles such as Life and Keynote and acting as a Course Consultant for Look, a seven-level primary series. He enjoys travel, exercise and live music/spoken word performance.
