WELCOME
Welcome level for pre-literate and newcomer students with high frequency vocabulary for a school environment, and subject-specific vocabulary for social studies, math, and science.

High frequency vocabulary for a school environment and subject-specific vocabulary for social studies, science, and math ensure learners are set up for success in all their classes.

Learners practice vocabulary and language structures through reading passages, video, and ‘Reader’s Theater’ scripts.

A systematically sequenced series of activities increase oral and written vocabulary and develop academic language skills.

The Spark platform hosts further language support with speaking and listening opportunities, additional reading passages, and games and activities to practice language.

PHONICS
A robust-systematic phonics program on the Spark platform teaches phonemic awareness, phonics, word structure, decoding and spelling, and high frequency words.

Presentation-ready displays, with corresponding scripts in the Teacher’s Book, support effective instruction.

Sound spelling cards provide visual cues linking sounds and spellings.

A placement test informs at which of the four starting points each student should be placed within the Phonics program. Progress checks measure their cumulative decoding skills and knowledge of high frequency words.

Extensive skills practice, including age-appropriate decodable readings, ensures students build their foundational skills.
